FIDEL DEVKOTA

Independent Filmmaker/ Visual Anthropologist

 

Fidel Devkota was born in Gorkha and raised in Kathmandu, Capital of Nepal. Studied Science and Business in Nepal and Singapore for few years before joining Film School in 2003. Apart form filmmaking he also took part in numerous National/International theater seminars and workshop. He directed and acted in various Dramas, Street theaters, Improvisational and Conceptual pieces. He is also credited for the First Independent film movement in Nepal. He moved to Germany for further education after graduating in Film Studies. His films have been screened in various National and International film festivals. After completing his Masters in Visual and Media Anthropology at Freie Universitaet Berlin he is currently enrolled as a PhD Student under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Urte Undine Froemming. Apart from Film and Anthropology he is also involved in ‘virtual’ studies. His  main research area includes western Himalayan region of Nepal and Upper Mustang region. He is based in Kathmandu and Berlin.

 

PhD Topic : “Climate Vulnerability and adaptation to climate impacts in the Himalayan Region of Nepal.”
