Born in Kinshasa/DRC, Kani Tuyala lived in Abidjan/Ivory Coast, grew up in Münster/Germany and studied Political Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Bremen/Germany.

He passed his obligatory semesters abroad at the University of Rennes /France and at KAS (Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung) Media Programme in Johannesburg/South Africa.

The topic of his dissertation at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology reads: "Africa Online. Audio-visual emancipation or virtual westernization?"

Due to a DAAD scholarship he had the opportunity to do scientific research over four months in Kenya, where he did interviews and met media protagonists such as e.g. Dr. Bitange Ndemo, Chris Kirubi, Dr. Werner Zeppenfeld, Jörg Brase, Salim Amin and Asif Sheikh.

Kani Tuyala currently holds the position of the Lions of Science Executive Director and e-learning lecturer within the Master's  Program.

Additionally Kani Tuyala works as e-learning lecturer within the Master's Program.

His main areas of interest are ICT4D, Internet and mobile communication, 'Good Governance', African History, (Citizen-) Journalism, International Relations, East-African economies, Development Cooperation
