7th screening session of the Ethnographic Film Series

01/19/2010

Please join us for the 7th screening session of:

The Ethnographic Film Series

M.A. Visual and Media Anthropology

Freie Universität Berlin

Date: Friday, January 29th 2010

Location: Moviemento Cinema (Kottbusser Damm 22 – Berlin, Kreuzberg)

Time: 16:00

Program:  Film clips and discussion with Enrique Sánchez Lansch

We will be welcoming Spanish-German film director and screenwriter Enrique Sánchez Lansch, famous for his award-winning documentary film Rhythm is it! (2004).

Sánchez Lansch will talk to us about his filmmaking experiences, in particular how he deals with interview situations, and his rather unusual professional trajectory - starting off as an assistant director first for opera productions, then becoming an opera singer himself… and eventually a filmmaker! His work has brought him beyond Germany to Italy, France, Venezuela and Greece, writing and directing films mostly on the subjects of music, opera and ballet.

A selection of his films includes:

Spanish Dances (1993), Winterreise (1994), Piano en Double (2003), Nourouz (2004), Sing um dein Leben! (2005), Schumann, Schubert und der Schnee (2006), Rostropovich – The musical conscience (2007), The Reichsorchester (2007), and The promise of Music (2008).

Entrance is free.
