E-learning
The learning methods of this Master's program are a combination of e-learning and in-house classes, so called "blended learning".
Besides the four in-house classes during the two years (twice two weeks and twice one week) the other 50 % of the course is held via e-learning.

We use a combination of five different e-learning methods:
1. CMS-Online-Modules
All course content, literature, digital media and assignments are presented online via a clearly arranged Content Management System (CMS)

2. Virtual classroom (Learning Management System Blackboard)
The virtual classrom is a text based realtime communication tool

3. Discussion Board (LMS Blackboard)
The discussion board allows students to present ideas, presentations and essays online to their lecturers and fellow students

4. Skype
Free communication through voice, video calls and instant messages with your lecturers and fellow students
5. 3-D-classroom in virtual world (Second Life)
The M.A. Program in Visual and Media Anthropology has two plots on EduNation island in Second Life. Some courses of the program take place in our virtual classroom on this island. Students and lecturers meet up with avatars and communicate (via voice-chat and text based communication). We simulate ethnographic fieldwork situations and practice visual anthropological methods.
